Over a year later

Another blog posting by the creator and founder of PAKMMA and owner of Shaheen MMA Academy – Bashir Ahmad.

Alright, so it’s been another long few months since I wrote a blog posting. It’s been almost one year since Shaheen Mixed Martial Arts Academy has been running.  Anyway, this blog posting isn’t really about the great lengths that we have come to since opening the gym. Which mind you, we have. We’ve held numerous smokers, some of them jam packed with great fights, some of them not too much different then some of our Friday night sparring sessions.

This blog posting is a bit more personal. I am thinking of going back to the days where I was writing in this thing almost like a diary. I was never a fan of writing personal thoughts for the whole world to see, it seems quite attention seeking and that’s not really my personality. For the record, PAKMMA and Shaheen MMA Academy have been run almost exclusively by me. Yes I get tons of support from my fans and students and many others willing to help out with the cause. but the reality is, in the end this whole thing started with me and is supported solely by me. If I were to pack up and go home, I don’t have too much faith that things are ready to take off in the direction we all want them to see. Anyway, my point is, is that PAKMMA has grown quite considerably in that time and you have yet to see 10,000 pictures of me wearing funny uniforms in stupid ass poses, or some artificial, stick up the ass picture of me wearing a suit surrounded by certificates claiming glory for starting this whole thing. That’s not me. In fact even with so many fans on facebook, even with so many hits to the PAKMMA website (up to 250 per day) most people probably have never seen a picture of me or know my name. That’s perfect cuz that’s how I want it to be. It’s not about me and my hunt for a horde of brainwashed losers worshiping grandmaster Bashir. It’s about empowering the Martial Arts community and Pakistanis in general to raise the standards of training, to share knowledge and most importantly to work together and kindle the belief and flame the drive to put forth Pakistani fighters out there competing. We have a long way to go, believe me.  But it can and will be done. Because PAKMMA is different. We are not about one person, one style, one federation, none of that garbage. We’re here to give Pakistan, an enlightened, professional and professional platform to promote it’s fighters.
