Shogun vs Machida at UFC 104 Oct 24th
Tonight, Saturday October 24th Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (15-0), the light heavy weight champion of the UFC will defend his belt for the first time against fellow Brazilian Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (18-3).
This should be an interesting match up for all, particularly MMA fans inclined towards the traditional martial arts as Machida is a lifelong Karate practitioner. he is the first of current champions to use a martial art many thought to be “outdated” as his fighting base.
His opponent Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is a long time veteran of MMA with his base being Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in which he holds a black belt. Long considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, “Shogun” has recently climbed his way back to the top of the food chain by defeating UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman and Chuck Liddell.
